Memories

I've been scanning old family photos and came across this adorable little shot of me and my brother Paul. We used to be best friends. I wish we were still this close ...

Mr. Whitmore

When we went to pick up Zeke's prescription I assumed it would be under my name.

Pharmacy Tech: Hi, can I help you?
Me: Yes, I'm here to pick up a prescription - it should be under Whitmore.
PT: First name?
Me: Laura
PT: Hmmm I dont have anything for Laura Whitmore.
Me: Well its for our puppy - his name is Zeke.
PT: Oh yes, here it is - he has his own profile in the computer. Can you confirm Zeke's address and phone number?

Seriously? My puppy has his own profile at the Walgreen's pharmacy? Josh and I were cracking up. Also, I really wanted to ask the PT to add Poleri to his profile but I thought that would be a bit much.

I think I may have over-done it with puppy posts lately - the next one will be on a different topic. Maybe.

Zeke

Our puppy-kins has a name: Zeke ... or Ezekiel Whitmore Poleri when he's in trouble!

He has had a busy couple of days ...
*On Friday he went to the vet where he got x-rays for his cough and they found he has a little lung infection so he got started on antibiotics.
*On Saturday he seemed to be getting the concept of walking on a leash so we took him for his first walk. He did really well and then took a long nap.

And now some more pictures of the cutest Staffordshire around:

Adding to the Family ...

We got a puppy!

He is an adorable 3 month old English Staffordshire Bull Terrier and he came home with us on Wednesday night.

I had planned to wait until we'd named him to post pictures (so far Josh and I cant agree on a name) so he could be properly introduced but he's so cute I cant wait any longer.

Isn't he the sweetest thing ever???

Skin Deep

I came across this website where you can look up your products and see their toxic levels and whether or not they're tested on animals etc.

Since I wear (cake on!) makeup everyday I thought I'd check out what I was really putting on my face.
I am a huge MAC makeup fan and probably 90% of my large makeup collection is made up of MAC products so I was really hoping I wouldn't find out they're full of toxic sludge.
Some of the stuff scored a little higher on the hazard scale than I'd like but the big surprise was that my Cover Girl mascara was the bad product ... 9 out of 10 on the toxicity scale!
And to think I put that stuff right by my eyes daily. Yikes!

Look up your stuff here.

Progress

A miracle has happened - we finally finished a room! I am very excited to share these photos and even more excited to have a relaxing bedroom.

Here are the 'before' photos, taken when we first moved in:

Things we didn't like:
1. Dirty, dusty builder white paint from when the house was built
2. Hideous valance and side curtains
3. Vertical blinds with many pieces missing
4. Eye-sore of a ceiling fan
5. Old-ish carpet covered in dog hair

What we did:
1. Painted the room Light French Gray (its actually more blue than gray)
2. Threw valance and curtains in the trash
3. Installed white faux wood blinds from Home Depot
4. Installed inexpensive white ceiling fan from Lowe's
5. Vacuumed the carpet numerous times with the Dyson (When we win the lottery we will rip out all the carpet upstairs and put down laminate - we both dislike carpet)

And here are the 'after' shots:

The 3 pictures above the dresser are a photo I found of the Philly skyline (Josh's home town). I cut it into thirds and framed each one individually.

I think the cat photos above our nightstands might be a bit much but we felt like we needed something above the lamps - any suggestions on what else to put in those frames?

In case you care where everything came from:
Dresser, nightstands, and standing mirror are from Ikea
Ottoman is from Target
Bedding is from Costco (sheets) and JCPenney (duvet cover and shams - on sale!)
Lamps are from Home Goods
Headboard is homemade

Speaking of the headboard (that I am very proud of, by the way!) here are some close up detail shots:

We were hoping make our bedroom a relaxing retreat and are pretty happy about how it turned out!
